Capital Soccer Camp: It is not too late to sign up for Capital Soccer at BJAMS.
Ages: 6-15
Cost: $130.00 less a discount for BJAMS students.
Date: June 23 – 27, 2008. 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Capital Soccer is dedicated to soccer excellence through a supportive, participatory environment year round. Our programs are predicated on good will, sportsmanship, team play, and fun. Capital Soccer staffs experienced coaches who offer high-level training for campers ages 6-15 in a fun, learning-centered environment. The camp has a 9 to l player-coach ratio ensuring plenty of individualized attention for every camper. Our day camps offer quality training opportunities for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.

PTO Raffle Tickets: The Red Sox game is on August 2 at 7:05 pm. The bus will leave at 1:45 pm from Berlin. Only 88 tickets have been sold. Go BJAMS students, get those tickets sold! Please turn in the money and/or unsold tickets as soon as possible.

Parent/Student Dance: This Saturday, May 24, is the Parent/Student dance. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The proceeds will benefit the After School Program and the

Four Winds Program. Please make plans to attend.

Band Calendar Sales: Please continue to sell the band calendars until June 2nd. This is the only band fundraiser and your support are greatly appreciated and necessary. Don’t forget that for every five calendars you sell, you will receive $5.00 in cash.

Change Drive Follow-up: As everyone has by now heard, Brooke Willett’s Change Round Up has netted a whopping $1,420.10. Congratulations to Brooke and the BJAMS Family!

Email Addresses: I am having difficulty with several email addresses being returned when I email Friday Notes. That of itself is not a big problem as there is always a hard copy that goes home with your student. But, I have been emailing special announcements; my concern is that they are not reaching you. WANTED! Yearbook Pictures: Pictures of events that have happened throughout the school year for the yearbook. They can be on a memory stick, CD, or on old fashioned photo paper. Please give them to Mrs. Teale in the Business Office. They should be labeled with the event, and if you want them back, the person to whom they are to be returned.

Cookbooks/Coffee & Muffins: The third grade, in an effort to raise money for their Space Camp trip, is selling coffee/muffins every Mon. & Fri. in the lobby. They also are selling cookbooks which are displayed at that time. Coffee & muffins are $1.00 each and the cookbooks $5.00 each.

Financial Aid: Financial awards will be made in early May from the BJAMS’Adopt-A-Student fundraising efforts. Please make sure that your application materials are submitted to FACTS on or before April 15.

We will keep the weekly totals and the class raising the most money will get a reward of their choosing; as long as Mrs. Wilson agrees with your idea. You have surpassed our dreams! Can we make it to $1,000.00 by April 18th????

Kurt Salvas Benefit: A Silent Auction to benefit Kurt Salvas will be held at the Town & Country in Stowe.

Enrollment Contracts: Mar. 21 is the beginning of the 2008/09 enrollment campaign for new students. Preliminary inquires show that several grades will be full with waiting lists. To ensure/reserve your student’s seat for next year, you must return the completed enrollment contract along with a $100.00 seat fee. March 24 is the beginning of the open enrollment period for families not now attending BJAMS. Open seats may be filled. Blank enrollment contracts are available at the school office.

Hockey News: Congrats to John Michael Grab and the Stowe Youth Hockey Team. SYH played at Lake Placid and won the Best Sportsmanship Award out of all the levels participating. The game was played on the same ice as the 1980 Olympic USA team when they won Gold! If you are interested in your student playing hockey contact Jeff & Kathy Grab at 888-9338.

Third Grade Breakfast fundraiser: The third grade will be selling freshly baked muffins and Green Mountain Coffee on Mar. 5, 6th& 7th before school. Muffins and coffee cost $1.00 each. The sale is to help with their Space Camp trip. Come join us for a nice breakfast to go!

Third Grade Thank you: The 3rd grade class would like to thank all families and friends who came to the spaghetti dinner last Saturday night. A big” thanks” to Mrs. Gentle for cooking up yet another yummy meal!

Congratulations to the Grab Boys: The Grab boys had a very successful Stowe Youth Hockey season. John’s team placed 3rd in the State AB Tournament this past weekend, winning 4 for 6 games and losing only to So. Burlington and St. Albans. John will be competing in the Can Am Tournament in Lake Placid, NY next month. Good luck John! Jacob’s team placed 3rd in the Mite AB Tournament. This was a success for at young team and Jacob found a great love for goaltending. If there are others interested in joining John & Jacob at Stowe Youth Hockey call the Grab’s at 888-9338.

Practice for the concert will be at the Nazarene Church on Dec. 20. Students will be bused to the church at 1:00pm and parents are asked to do the 3:00 pm pick up at the church. Those students who need to be in the After School Program will be bused back to BJAMS.

Food Drive - St. Vincent de Paul has asked us to collect food for their Christmas food drive. We are looking for holiday fare: canned veggies, fresh potatoes, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Please make an effort to contribute one or more the mentioned items the week of December 10th.

Mass Notes - Confession is being offered on Tuesday, December 11th at 1:00.
Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 on Wednesday, December 12th at 9:30.

Dear Families:

With the winter season upon us, it’s time to start thinking about Bishop John A. Marshall School’s Christmas concert! After many years of cramped seating and stifling temperatures in the multi-purpose room here at school, we have decided to make a change to allow for more comfortable viewing and greater attendance of our family and friends.

The folks over at the Nazarene Church in Johnson have graciously agreed to allow our school to use their space for our Christmas concert this year! The church seats roughly 300 people, and there is plenty of parking available. Also, the sound system is designed to accommodate concerts, which will improve the acoustics of our band and singers. This is a wonderful opportunity, and we are grateful for the generosity of Lorenda Dunham and her fellow parishioners.

Moving the location of our concert does require us to change the date of the concert. Instead of December 19th at 6:30, we need to move the concert to December 20th at 6:30. Please mark your calendars now!
We will practice in the afternoon on the day of the concert at the church. We will bus students over after our second lunch for rehearsal. We ask that parents pick up their children at the Nazarene Church located on route 15 in Johnson on December 20th at 3:00. We will transport students back to Bishop Marshall School if they are attending the After School Program or will participate in fencing that day.

I look forward to our Christmas concert, as I do every year. Thank you to all who helped make this possible, specifically Lorenda Dunham, Alice Perron, Mr. Ianni, and Danielle Chauvin.
